FOR ALL YOUR LAND SURVEYING PROJECTS

  • What questions should a client ask to hire the right service professional?

    1. What are your qualifications and do you have insurance?
    2. Can you give me a fixed price?
    3. How quickly can it be done?
  • What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

How much for a Boundary Survey? This is an obvious question but can take some time to work out. I usually start with the street address of the property which can be used to search the Lands Titles Office records for the survey plan that created the property and other relevant survey plans nearby.

  • What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I am the business owner of Reliable Surveys and a Licensed Surveyor. This enables me to control the quality and accuracy of every job in detail. Clients of Reliable Surveys get a unique service that larger companies simply can not provide.

  • How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I loved the outdoors because I grew up in the country. I also liked maps, calculating, programming and technology. Surveying was an obvious choice. I completed a Bachelor of Surveying in 1992 (Uni SA) and a Graduate Diploma in Survey Practice in 2000 at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

  • Do you have a favourite client story you would like to share?

A client purchased an expensive property. He asked me for a price to check the boundaries. I discovered the fencing was grossly out of position. He was able to negotiate a new price because the contract was subject to a survey. For an investment of $1100, he saved around $100,000. Not bad! If you can show me a better return on investment I would like to know!

  • What do you like most about your job?

I love being outdoors, reading old maps and survey plans and I love the challenge that boundary surveying can provide on occasions. Some of the history behind the evolving cadastre can be fascinating.

  • Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

We are fully insured with Professional Indemnity Insurance to $5 million. We are covered by Public Liability Insurance for $20 million. As a Licensed Surveyor, I am bound by the code of ethics set by the Surveyors Board of South Australia. I am also a member of the Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI).

  • What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a client?

    1. Accurate property address
    2. If you are subdividing, have you talked to the council? if so what was the feedback?
    3. What type of survey? (Boundary and/or contour?) and what is the purpose of the Survey?
  • How can a client save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips.

    1. An accurate description of the property location (address or title number)
    2. If you have a clear boundary and good access around the property that will help reduce the price.
    3. If you have a recent copy of your certificate of title that will save you $33
  • What makes your pricing competitive?

If you are in the Western Suburbs, our prices will be cheaper to start with because we won’t charge any travel time. If our price is not competitive give us another try. I assure you we can beat any price by 10%.

  • How do you normally charge for your service?

We provide a fixed quote or maximum price so you can rely on us to not give you any nasty surprises. We invoice after the job is completed. Our payment terms are 7 days.

  • Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

As a small company, we like to work with clients on small projects. (No job is too small). I believe we can give a personal service with clients looking to subdivide or simply looking to find out where their boundary is for a new fence. We also specialize in small engineering surveys and set outs.

  • What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

My name is Simon Klitscher, the director of Reliable Surveys Pty Ltd. I have been involved with the Surveying Industry since 1989. I obtained my License to practice Surveying in January 2000. I now have 20 years of experience as a Licensed Surveyor in South Australia.

  • Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

At Reliable Surveys, our clients will receive personalised service from our Licensed Surveyor. We promise to be on time and on budget. Our prices are competitive, our surveys are comprehensive and accurate. Reliable is our name and you can depend on that.
